Thank you, Mary. You are so very kind, and I’ve really enjoyed getting to know you through this challenge. Your comments always brightened my day, as did your blog posts. WordPress might not be the best blogging platform for this challenge, but I much, much, MUCH prefer it to Blogger in every other way. Please don’t let my remarks discourage you from trying it out. Plus, you probably don’t have to lose your GFC followers like I did–just make sure you get good advice before you switch!

It was sad, and perplexing too. I didn’t get to comment as much as I’d like, either, between writing my posts and wrestling with real life, I just ran out of time. Hence the plan to pre-write next year. We’ll see where those best laid plans go.

When I have to write my posts the day they’re due, it seriously impacts my ability to flutter from blog to blog, dropping comments as I go. Much as I love the challenge of writing every day, I’m going to forego that next time round and blog hop like a fiend!
If people were dropping out of the challenge, you could understand the drop-off in comments, but yeah, like you, I was perplexed by the whole thing. I tried to always, always visit the people who’d left comments on my posts–those were the blogs I visited first, even if I’d already left comments on those blogs for an earlier post.

Shannon, I think some of the commenters above may have a point about some of the sites that didn’t receive comments–perhaps the bloggers weren’t visiting/commenting on other blogs. Being diligent in your own blog hopping does seem to be the one sure-fire way of making sure your blog gets visits. I agree with you that next year I’m going to make the visiting/commenting a priority and pre-write my posts. That should be fun!

Hi Suzanne, nice to meet you! Pre-writing the posts will definitely allow for a lot more interaction with other bloggers–not sure why it took me two years to figure that out. And, yeah, I agree; maybe it shouldn’t matter that a lot of people were pretty abysmal at reciprocating the visits and comments, but it kinda sorta does. I get it when someone receives 50 or 100 comments on their post–nobody could expect them to visit and comment on that many blogs every day, but I think perhaps some people either didn’t get how this works or just couldn’t be bothered to play by the rules.

I suspect that you are exactly right in your suspicions. I should have looked a bit more closely, but by that point I was in a pretty zomboid frame of mind and wasn’t thinking too logically. Like you, I didn’t get through as many blogs as I’d hoped to, but I’m planning to visit more over the next few months.

You know, Jessica, I think you’re probably right. A number of the comment-less blogs that I visited didn’t return the visit. I put it down to the blogger feeling discouraged by the time I’d reached them, but it’s very likely that they weren’t taking the time to comment. You do have to put the time and energy into visiting and commenting if you want people to reciprocate.

Oh. My. Goodness. You made it through the entire list??? Did you sleep at ALL during April? I am beyond impressed! I’m still chipping away, blog by blog. I may make it through by the end of next March. Possibly.
